Artifact History

The carpenter's tool box (H971.372.6a-d) and all the tools it contains (H971.372.7 to .54) belonged to Robert Hetherington. They were brought too Manitoba in 1879 via boat across the lakes to Deluth; from there to the Red River by train, down the Red River by river boat to Winnipeg, up the Assainabone to Portage la Prairie. From there by ox cart to a farm near Brandon in 1880. Then to Vancouver in 1909.
