Ceremonial brass key, mounted horizontally on marble base; black veined marble base; felt glued to bottom; beveled bottom edges; ornamental key, ornate head; engraved on head one side, Vancouver coat of Arms and "Lord Tennyson Elementary School Addition"; other side, Vancouver Coat of Arms and "Opened by Charles E. Thompson, October 23, 1957"; shaft engraved, one side, "Vancouver School Board"; obverse of shaft engraved with city skyline with key's teeth as skyscrapers; shaft connected to key by maple leaf, "Canada."
